Hmm you are not giving much information at all. What OS are you running,
what card did you buy? Have you installed the drivers for the card? Is the
card detected by your computer when you insert it? Not all computers support
cardbus cards, they are not the same as a PCMCIA card.

Normally you would simply insert the card into your computer, the computer
would detect the card and request drivers for it. You would then install the
drivers for your card, launch a network setup wizard and detect and find
your network. Note that this is normally only done once, on the first
insertion.

My experience is only cards that are built into the PC are normally control
by Function F5 key presses. Normal behavior for a PCMCIA card is it is on
when inserted.

You have to install the driver for the wireless adapter, using the
instructions and CD that came with the device.

If you post back, please include laptop model; what version of Windows,
including service pack; and make/model of wifi adapter.  See

Hi

Pressing certain functions keys can help if the card is internally installed
by the manufacturer and was configured correctly, but left Off.

In you case you are installing an add-on card, so you have to perform the
process of installation.  As mentioned above read the manual and follow the
Card's installation instructions as suggested by the manufacturer.  If you
did every thing correctly, and it does not work, you need to find out what
is wrong.

In General, you can debug the Network Settings of a computer by following
these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager.
Make sure that the Network Card drivers are installed correctly; i.e. there
is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation.
http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two. Verify Basic network setting in the OS:
http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify.

If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but
functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and
or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet

"Tried everything possible" is not helpful.  If you've really tried
everything possible and things still don't work, you might as well give
up.  More likely, you have NOT tried everything possible, but nobody
here can help you until you tell us what you HAVE tried.

See http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Alternatively, open the phone book, look under "computer repair," and
hire a professional to come and straighten things out.

And please don't post in all caps.

And you are still not giving us any real information at all. With out that
kind of info all we are doing is spinning our wheels by guessing.
