I currently have broadband via cable, but am switching to ASDL.  I've
been sent a new router which works fine.  I want to go wireless, I've
got a USB adapter which I was told I just had to plug it in and it
would pick up the signal.  I disconnected the ethernet cable and
installed the software for the USB adapter, but it is not picking up a
signal.  Am I missing something blatantly simple??

What USB adapter do you mean? Do you mean a USB wireless network adapter
for the computer that isn't connected to the modem/router by ethernet
cable? If this is what you mean, it came with a cd and setup
instructions. You need to install the adapter on the computer.
