my notebook came with a card i have to insert into left side of notebook the
dell inspirion.  and the card came with a cd a disk to load into the notebook
i have no friends to do remote assistance you have to load the software and
install it and restart your comouter with the or each new device even a
camera all hardware comes with a disk installation software.  okay!!  i did
this too and dell saw the new hardware tells me i see it!!!your new
hardware!!!! only happiness my dell!! i want to be like everyone else who has
one

dell says i see your new hardware even though hewlett packard is funnier a
little man at the bottom of the screen an instructor an animated character.

i click on the found new hardware installed"  icon.  it also said "found a
dell wireless connection is present" no it is not!!!!i clicked here too but
things change when you click there was no connection what more do we
need!!!!!!!!

i call dell with my service warranty for 4 years technical.

dell says you have options 1.  buy a router rental center i went here too
and months go by,  tells me the router is 40.00 at walmart but it only has
like ancient china seaking the buddah of dell or something!!!!!!but.......you
only have 50 feet from the router that the wireless connection can be picked
up.  okay!!!what does all this do?  more months go by .  i dont want this
either.

next....i call dell they tell me my options

option 1.  buy a routing device and a wireless card and i have the card, but
dont know what kind of dell wireless lan card it is!!!!

RESULTS: you will have a wireless connection within 50 to 60 feet of the
router

months go by............and still no wireless connection !!!!!

option 2.  contact t-mobile  is one of them you need an account with them
first when you pay for the account t-mobile and others like their company
will provide you with a SIM card .......now this SIM card is just like the
card that you insert into a mobile telephone with the internet and you must
have this it comes with your paid monthly account.  even though boostmobile
offers world wide surfing unlimited at .06cents per day higher priced phones
at boostmobile you get wider variety also get the "wap"  look this up on the
web, a mobile phone community all its own even ebay.com you can bid on your
phone there are pictures of items this phone for emergencies is $50.00 or bid
at ubid and ebay for $7.00 or at yard sales for $22.00
until i could get this to work or figure this out. I dont want to look for
hotels that have a free data port or find a starbucks are they open 18 hours
a day? we cant sit in starbucks 18 hours a day i can drink that much coffee
but they wont let you. What is so difficult i cant take anymore!!!

I got the phone and MSN offers free hotmail on the mobile phone I can check
my messages but you have to be on this type of computer to set up your email
account then access it on your cellular phones are great you can use a credit
card on the WAP the cellular phone just like her I dont recommend you type in
a credit card at all on the web. the cell phone is safer keys arent so loose.
might make a mistake on this type of computer hit enter I did 21.00 charge
cost me 249.00 though I hit the enter key too many times.

Once you get the T-mobile or AT&T account and insert the SIM card just like
in a cellular phone you need I think Dell said you need the wireless PC card
also that goes with your brand of laptop or notebook if you have a compaq go
to compaq if you have a dell go to dell website or call them for free
1-800-555-1212 for their free number and have to order it the pc card fits on
the left side of my dell notebook locking your computer up helps i got a lock
with mine .  In my case I have to special order a card the one I have is only
for use with a router in the home or at work.  It was on sale called Dell
Auto/Air PC wireless LAN card it was $37.00 on sale.  I must have this also.
Plus the wireless account with a major phone carrier and Im set to go.

There are other options with sharing a phone connection  also networking the
internet connection not apply to you.
the boostmobile phones you cant use your credit you think I did found a way
on the Wap just like this you cant make hotel reservations this is difficult
havent figured this out yet.

this account cant be wifi dell did not mention wifi at starbucks  or the
hilton or data ports at hotels or boingo is another one or airports too
confusing to coordinate my life around yhe notebook i tried

i asked i want my laptop to have 24 hour access to the internet 24 hours a
day if i take my notebook 50 miles from home today on a plane i want to sign
onto the internet and how can i do this??!!!If I travel 3,000 miles to Canada
today away from home I want to open my notebook for gosh sakes how hard is
this and sign onto internet at anytime anywhere I want to this was my
question under the warranty

Jack (MVP-Networking).
Hi
May be this can Help, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#terms
If your solution involves mobile phone you need to acquire the hardware from
the Mobile provider, the D-Link would not help you, it can not connect to a
phone.
In order to have a solid available Internet, and use your wireless ready
Laptop and the D-Link you have to subscribe to Cable Internet (call you
Cable TV provider), or DSL, call your regular land phone provider.
