Hi folks-

I¹ve got a Mac Airport Extreme net connection running throughout my house,
and have adopted a nice Dell D600 that I¹d like to include in the network.
I know very little about PCs (though I¹m far from a Mac snob).  Can someone
tell me:

1. What is a good, reliable, inexpensive wireless network card that will
work?
2. Is there documentation anywhere on how to install/check the card. The
Dell sight was les than helpful.

All responses are appreciated.

Mac guy needs to share airport w/Dell laptopI'm not an Apple guy, but at one
time Apple was using rebranded Lucent/Orinoco Wi-Fi cards. I would recommend
a Proxim card from http://proxim.com/ If you enter the password as a hex
value rather than as a password which card you use shouldn't really matter,
as long as they support the same speed and security level as your extreme.

Generally you insert the CD in the Dell, it runs and will prompt you to
insert the Wi-Fi card at the correct time. You insert the card, and it will
find your network, and prompt for the type of security you are running, (
WEP, WPA, etc. ) and then ask for the password. Read the instruction with
your card, and generally install the drivers before the card, but not
always.

Any one, as long as it's got a driver for the OS (which I presume is a
Windows one).

Run the Installer. Try using the client manager that comes with the
software for the card, otherwise and if your OS is Windows Xp use
Windows Zero Config.
