After replacing a faulty Belkin wireless router my HP laptop wont connect to
the router using any secure authentication (WEP or WPA) - but connects ok
using open authentication. Other PCs on the wireless network connect OK.

Any ideas please?

Jack (MVP-Networking).
Hi
Set the security first on the Router, and copy the encryption Hex string to
the Wireless Client.

Thanks Jack - I tried that and also updating the notebook's Intel Pro
wireless adaptor driver but still no joy. Out of desperation I downloaded the
Intel wireless utility and used that instead of the Windows wireless manager.
It worked first time :)

So we will never know what the problem was.

thanks anyway
