Internet Sharing \w Wireless Belkin Router, Win XP & ZyXel Modemthat is on all the time is connected to the internet via a ZyXel Modem connected to the USB port. The goal now is that all other computers can use that internet connection. What I did so far is 1) Connecting the computer that is always on to one of the LAN ports on the wireless Belkin Router. 2) To start with I also did connect one laptop to another LAN port (the final goal is going wireless) on the router. 3) The router has it's DHCP enabled and has the IP address 192.168.0.128. 4) Both computers are on the same group (WORKGROUP). 5) For the computer that is always on I enabled internet sharing for the ZyXel broadband connection. >From both computers I can go to the routers setup page. I can also ping each computer from the other. I cannot access the internet from thelaptop, though. Maybe an other important note is that on the computer that is always connected I get a ZyXel broadband connection AND when I am connected as LAN2 (on top of the LAN) connection with limited functionality. Don't know where that comes from but from that computer I have no problems getting on the internet. Any ideas what I did wrong or that I am missing? Thanks The first thing you need to do is get the router connected to your Internet
connection directly, then get all PCs connected to the router. You could turn off all the router functions and use it as a simple switch, using ICS on the "always-on" PC to share the connection but I would not recommend it. -- Show quoteHide quoteRichard G. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126/ By default, and without the ability to be changed, the network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Access the router's configuration pages and turn off the router's DHCP server. Change the router's IP address to something on the same subnet that's unlikely to conflict with the IPs of the other computers, e.g., 192.168.0.175. That's about it, although you could also set the computers on your internal network to use static IPs in the 192.168.0.xxx range. If you don't they will be assigned such IPs by the ICS DHCP server. See http://www.ezlan.net/DialUp.html for more info.
