XP Home - Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)Properties - Address Settings

I have set up a home wireless network. On my laptop which is connected to the
network I have set the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)Properties to "Use the
following IP address" and filled in the IP address and the DNS address. The
wireless connection now works. However every time I switch off the laptop
then switch it on again the
Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)Properties have gone back to "Obtain an IP address
automatically" and I have to reset all the addresses again manually. I am
told that the addresses should be saved automatically. Can anyone advise why
this is not happening?

Thanks

Bryan

Hi
Make sure that Windows Zero Configuration and the Original Manufacturer
software are not running in tandem.
My New Wireless does not work - http://www.ezlan.net/wireless.html

Hi Jack,

I have checked and the Windows Zero Configuration is running.

Should I stop it? If so how would I do this?

Thanks

Bryan

I'd rather disabled the vendor's manager leaving WZC only.
The simpler - the better.

Hi
Should you prefer using WZC, this might help in disabling the original
utility,  http://www.ezlan.net/infestation#process
Switching WZC On or Off here, , http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html

I have stopped the WZC on the Laptop and again inserted the Internet Protocol
Settings. However again  when I switch off the laptop then switch it on again
these settings have gone.

I still cannot work out how to stop the euipment. It is a D-Link DFE-520TX
10/100 Mbps Ethernet PCI Adaptor fitted to the Laptop with a D-Link DSL-G624T
Wireless ADSL2+ Router.
