Connected, but can't reach the internet!

Pegasus Host

My laptop connects perfectly with the internet through the Belkin router when
it's hard wired in and it obtains the DNS address automatically, but when I
try to use it wirelessly, it can't obtain a DNS address. If I allocate one,
it connects to the network but refuses to access the internet.
It has worked in the past without problem, so I'm guessing some setting has
been changed - anyone got any ideas?

Jack (MVP-Networking).

Check the Wireless card hardware related and tcp/ip settings.
Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager.
Make sure that the Network Card drivers are installed correctly; I.e. there
is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation.

Step Two. Verify Basic network setting in the OS:

Auto Obtain).
As for the Wireless Settings. may be this can Help.

I tried all of those suggestions, but none seemed to solve it. As a result of
trying them, I was confident everything was working correctly and it was a
setting problem somewhere in the router, so I made yet another call to Belkin
support, and eventually, after a second hour long call I got someone who was
able to sort it.
Most of the things he suggested, I'd already tried, other than changing to
channel 6, and changing from WPA-WSK encryption to 64 bit WEP. Whatever the
problem was, it's sorted now, so thanks for your help in making sure it
wasn't a hardware problem.
