Password PromptWhen trying to establish my home wireless network I can see both computers
in "view workgroup computers." I can access shared files from my wifes computer to mine, but can not access her shared files from my computer as I am prompted for a username and password to access her computer. Her computer was given to us and I have tried all username and passwords that she remembers using, but nothing works. The original owner is deceased, so going there is not an option. Both computers are running XP Pro and both have firewalls temporarily disabled. Is there a way to access or change the password on her computer short of a reinstall? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jim On your wife's computer create a new user account with the same user name
and password you use to log onto your computer - your wife does not have to log onto her machine with this account - just create the account. If you still get the prompt, add the new user account to the Share and NTFS permissions on the shared folders. Sorry about the slow response, but created the new account and I am off and running. Just a few adjustments to firewall and everything is functional! Thanks again! simple file sharing. Go, get 'em, Jim!
