Hi
It is a little peculiar that two standard 802.11g devices cannot work
together.  I would follow this path.
Take a look at the Westell Modem/Router manual and find out if it can be
configured as a Modem Only device (I.e. the Router/Wireless part disabled).
If it can, buy a good Wireless Router and use the Westell as a Modem only.
If it cannot work as a Modem only, call Verizon and try to convince them to
take the Westell, and give you a regular External Ethernet Modem (No
Router).  If they do get a good Wireless Router.
Otherwise, you would have to buy a Modem and a Wireless Router (I would
advise against buying another combo).
Example for a Good inexpensive Wireless Router.

You might check here for westell-specific advice, including
confirmation/denial of the alleged incompatibility with presario
computers:  http://www.dslreports.com/forum/westell and in your post, be
a little more descriptive than "can't connect wireless".

Whereever you post, explain what you have done and what symptoms you
experience, including error messages.  For example, have you tried
disabling encryption settings on the router?  are you sure that you have
turned on the wireless adapters in the new computers? see
http://www.ezlan.net/wireless.html

I find it a little peculiar that you were told that this router "won't
work" with presarios, especially in light of Westell's claim that it
will work with "any 802.11b/g/g+ certified card."  On the other hand.
see this description of a problem between certain Westell modem/routers
and Dell wireless cards: http://tinyurl.com/r52xt
