Assuming that it is your network, turn off all encryption and MAC filtering in the router and try to connect. Once you have managed that, you can re-enable your security measures. If for some reason the network is using WEP encryption, you should upgrade the drivers/firmware/hardware as necessary to use WPA or WPA2, but in the meantime be sure to enter the WEP key (from the router) into your laptop as hex information, not as an ASCII password. -- Lem MS MVP -- Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer I have the same issue. However, as I travel about the country I encounter
the same problem with all networks, wireless or Cat 5. When I 'repair' the connection, the message says 'cannot renew ip address' sometimes 'limited or no connectivity' and even other times 'tcp/ip is not enabled'. This problem seems to have appeared suddenly. Had no problems, and now 3 months later, still unable to access. Reloaded windows XP, no help. Ipconfig/release , renew no help. All settings are to auto. No anti-virus or firewall type software running. Lots of packets sent, 00 received. Would really appreciate some help. Or send rope, the laptop will become my new boat anchor. Thanks very much.
