Sharing a PrinterHi. I'm pretty much dumb when it comes to computers. I recently bought a
laptop and have set up my wireless network to share the internet. Now i'm trying to share my printer. Both my laptop and desktop are running windows XP media edition. My printer is a dell all-in-one 940A. The printer is connected to my desktop. I went through the wizard on the desktop and set everything up and now it shows that that printer is sharing. Next I went to the laptop, clicked on add printer, searched and its showing my network but no printers under it. What am i doing wrong? Please help? THanks Hi
While installing, disable temporarily the Firewalls on both computers, and be ready with the printer drivers. On the Laptop, log to Control Panel / Printers.. Click on Add a Printer when the wiz start choose the Network Printer option (last one) and follow the wiz. Some printers need the driver installed on the "printer" computer before the Wiz process, read your printer instruction concerning such an issue. Jack (MVP-Networking).
