Hi All,

I had cause to reinstall my desktop PC after it crashed. However, I am now
having an issue with trying to get it to link up with the wireless network.

I have two other pcs which are seeing the network fine and I can browse the
net wirelessly etc. The PC that I reinstall will only give me disabled and
Wep as the two methods of data encryption. In the network authenticaiton part
I am seeing Open and Shared. My problem is that the other pcs are set as WPA
Pre Shared key, and this PC does not pick that up.

Have I done something wrong in the installation process. I reinstalled
Windows XP SP2, using a wireless Asus USB adaptor.

Anyone assist?

It sounds as if you haven't installed the latest drivers for your wireless
card. I suggest that you locate the latest drivers for your card, and see if
that doesn't fix the problems. You'll need to get them from the manufacture
site, not windows I would think.

Maske sure you install the latest drivers for the Asus USB adapter. You
may have to uninstall it, and then install the driver before connecting
the adapter.

Jack (MVP-Networking).
Hi
Make sure that you actually installed/Upgraded to Win XP SP2. Many people
forget that their original Installation media is Win XP, or WinXP SP1. Right
Click on My Computer choose Properties, the General Tab provide the info.
In addition log to the support site of the card's manufacturer, download the
latest drivers. Windows XP SP2 gets the WPA existence info from the Card's
Drivers.
