XP MCE and Wireless USB compatibility Problemsdoesnt work and cannot figure out why. The symptoms were that eventually after hours of messing i got it to connect but then it dropped connection and would not reconnect. I went out and bought a Belkin one and have had similar problems with that. I spoke to Belkin support and they tell me that it is not compatible with MCE. Does this sound like this is the problem i am having with both of these adaptors? What USB Wireless adaptors ARE compatible with MCE? Most shops/literature just state compatible with XP (of which MCE is only an ad-on in my opinion - it is still basically XP). Is there a general compatibility issue with MCE. Should i have just bought normal XP? Any comments would be appreciated as without wireless ability a PC is pretty useless really and i am reluctant to try yet another random adaptor and possibly have the same problems.... Thanks very much, J It sounds to me like someone basically didn't want to deal with you. If it
works with XP I would expect it to work with Media Center. So just what does your network consist of? I agree with David the problem is a basic networking problem, probably hardware installation. Try to find out what actually does not work. May be this can Help. http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html Jack (MVP-Networking). Since MCE is installed only on selected OEM systems, may be it has been thorougly tested only with the WLAN adapters that come with these systems, and not with all and any others. Regards, --PA |
