Can't see wireless network anymore

Hello:

There are 3 computers in the house. Two connect to the internet through a
wireless network. The other one is hard-wired into the wireless router
(Linksys WIreless-G 2.4 GHZ)

Until about a week ago everything was working fine. Then one night I went to
shutdown my laptop. Before shutdown I received a message that the laptop was
going to download some windows updates before shutting down - I clicked OK
and didn't think another thing about it.

Next morning. The laptop can no longer see my security enabled wireless
network. It can't see any other security enabled wireless networks in the
neighborhood. It can - however - see an unsecured wireless network of another
neighbor.

In addition - the other computer in the house accessing the internet through
a wireless connection has no problem seeing - or connecting to - the wireless
network.

So... this problem is specific to the laptop and it happened after an
automatic download of Windows Updates.

Can anyone clue me into a setting that may have been changed making it
impossible for my laptop to detect secured wireless networks within range?

Thanks Much:

Without having all of the specifics - operating system, wireless adapter,
etc. - the best advise I can offer is to uninstall the adapter drivers and
utility and reinstall them.  After this run the Home/Small Office network
wizard.  This seems to cure a lot of ills.

Jack (MVP-Networking).
Hi
What ever caused the problem already cause it.
Currently some thing is wrong, you have to find out what is wrong and
correct it.
I would start with reconfiguring the security setting of the Wireless and
make sure that it match your Wireless Router.
