We are staying in a hotel that provides wireless internet for our
laptop. Because we we're bored my friend and I installed warcraft III
in both of our machines and tried to connect to each other by creating
a wireless network. We followed the steps on creating an ad hoc WLAN
but still our machines can't connect to each other. I'm using a dell
e1405 and his is a IBM x41.

Really need your help

I don't play warcraft III but as you both appear to be able to connect to
the hotel network, it might be quicker to use that connection for your
warcraft game.

As to your question, it could be lots of reasons. Probably your firewalls
come into play as well as your security settings. I'd suggest entering your
password as hex values. A better description of what error messages you are
getting would help, as well as exactly what steps you have done to put your
machines in Ad-Hoc mode.

we are using windows zero service to connect, added a new wireless
network with no WEP key and checked the ad-hoc setting. after that i
tried to connect to the created wireless network, the connection
succeeded but when we try to ping each other's terminal using the IP
automatically generated, it says requested time out. we tried entering
the game and still we can't find each other when i try to host a game.
for the firewall issue, we both turned off our firewall.

If you are using an Ad-Hoc connection there is no DHCP server, you're going
to need to pick two IP address and configure your computer manually try
entering 10.0.0.10 for the IP address of one and 10.0.0.11 for the IP
address of the other, use 255.255.255.0 for the Subnet mask for both.

Hey thanks for your reply. Your proposed solution worked! One problem
though everytime one of my friends die during the game he is
disconnected which should not be the case. Do you have any idea why
this happens or do you have other solution?
