ad hoc Networking with XP home.Home. I set up an ad hoc wireless network on the desktop with XP PRO and the XP PRO laptop connects 100% of the time when you try to connect. The XP Home laptop will almost never connect when it tries to connect to the ad hoc network. I can create the adhoc network on the xp Home laptop and I can then connect to it from either XP Pro computers (desktop or Laptop) at least one time but all bets are off if i restart the XP home laptop. Is there an incompatibility with XP PRO and XP Home? All three systems have service pack 2 installed. Would adding an actual router solve this problem and if do add a router can I still do internet connection sharing ICS. The reason that ICS is important to me is that I have no possible access to high speed internet and MUST use dialup. I know, but I live out in the country. Any sugestions gdas wrote:

There are a few wireless routers that connect to dialup services. See http://www.wiflyer.com/StoreFront.bok and http://www.ezlan.net/DialUp.html -- Lem MS MVP -- Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer Do you two machines have same model of WLAN adapter?
Ad-hoc mode is very hard to implement correctly, so two different adapters may have problem to connect, especially when they use different wireless management software. --PA Show quoteHide quote "gdas" wrote: > I have a desktop with XP pro and two laptops, one with XP PRO and one with XP > Home.
