shared network foldersHello,
The only network I am connected to is the internet via broadband. If I click 'show me all the shared network folders on this computer' in Network & Sharing centre I see my 'users' folder listed, also a printers folder. However, if I click 'show me all the files & folders I am sharing' there are none (which is how I want it). These seem to be contradictory ?? help & advice please, aere my datafiles at risk ? Thanks K Hi
Shared network folder are the Folders that are allowed to share across the Network. Files & folders I am sharing, are the Files and Folders shared among Users/Accounts on the specific computer. Network Shares, Local Users share, Two different things. Should I turn off sharing for the users folder, & if so how ? Why was it turned on in the 1st place ? Sorry to be a pain , but I'm totally confused by all the network jargon, risks, firewalls etc. Thanks again K Show quoteHide quote "Jack (MVP-Networking)." <j***@discussiongroup.com> wrote in message news:eOw9ZAxjJHA.1252@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Hi > Shared network folder are the Folders that are allowed to share across the > Network. > Files & folders I am sharing, are the Files and Folders shared among > Users/Accounts on the specific computer. > Network Shares, Local Users share, Two different things. > Jack (MS, MVP-Networking) > > "KRK" <trebor@yeleek.nospam.freeserve.co.uk> wrote in message > news:udhgtDqjJHA.5964@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >> Hello, >> >> The only network I am connected to is the internet via broadband. >> >> If I click 'show me all the shared network folders on this computer' in >> Network & Sharing centre I see my 'users' folder listed, also a printers >> folder. >> >> However, if I click 'show me all the files & folders I am sharing' there >> are none (which is how I want it). >> >> These seem to be contradictory ?? >> >> help & advice please, aere my datafiles at risk ? >> >> Thanks >> >> K >> >> >
