Hi,

I went to a cafe and tried to browse using their wireless internet access.
My computer picked up their SSID but when I open my IE, the first page is
their personalized login page.  Yeah, I had to pay to get the login &
password.

What I am interested is how to create that login page.  Currently at my home
I am managing MAC address of all wireless NIC I have.  The issue is when my
buddy comes by and wants to use my wireless interenet, I have to add his
wireless card MAC address to the "trusted-list".

By having that login page, that will help me not to manage MAC addresses.  I
can just remember the login/pwd.

Any idea?  Please advice, thanks!

One idea is not to even bother with MAC Address Authentication since MAC addresses can be easily
cloned. Use 128-bit WEP (at a minimum) or WPA (best) and simply provide the key to your friend. You
could then change the WEP/WPA key when your friend leaves. That is what I do on my home network, ie.
change the WPA-PSK key once guests leave. Its not a big deal...IMHO...

Otherwise, you might look at this page for a free solution to the hotspot splash page issue...There
may be others...
